Patient :So last year I had an accident where I slipped at work and dislocated my knee along with tearing my MCL. Since then my left knee has always been kind of unstable. In the past month I have fallen down twice while out walking and landed pretty hard directly on my left knee. The first time I did it my knee was swollen and numb for about a week. However, I did the same thing about 2 weeks later, landing on the same knee with a little more impact. It has been a little over 2 weeks and I am concerned because an area on my knee is still numb. The other day I leaned over to pick something up that I had dropped and felt a burning sensation..almost as if something was tearing and now the numbness on my knee has spread a little more. I can move my knee back and forth with little pain, but moving it to the side such as trying to rest my left foot on top of my right leg is a no go. Will the numbness eventually go away on its own? Will icing it help at all?
