Knee pain

Patient : I was playing soccer and went to try to stop a ball which was about to pass me. I went to try to stop the ball and while jogging toward it I think I twisted my knee and it felt like it dislocated. When I fell to the ground it felt like I straightened my leg and it went back to normal, but had severe pain. My knee is now swollen and I can't bend it but very little. I can slowly put most of my weight on it. I have pain in the inside part of my knee and when I try to bend it there is pain center just below my knee cap. This is approx the third time I have done this. Did I tear something? Am I going to need surgery?
