Knee pain from fall 5 weeks ago and still traveling
Patient :Hi...I am a 72 year old woman and 5 weeks ago I was at the airport and was not paying attention to the end of the moving walkway. I was actually turned to the right looking at something. I went down on my left side hitting my knee first. I had 2 more flights and one overnight at a hotel to go. When I reached my hotel I got ice and a roll of gauze to try to keep swelling down. I flew internationally to Europe and arrived the following. No intense pain, just felt the need to rest it. I rode in a car upon arrival and walked for about 1 and 1/2 hours. Got an elastic band and wrapped my knee, rested, elevated and iced for 3-4 days with intermittent sightseeing trips. Now, 5 weeks later, I am having a lot of pain in the back of my knee, especially if I am taking off my left shoe using my right foot to take it off. I do have some swelling as well and the knee is sore to the touch. I also have some pain on the inside of my knee. Going up stairs is also painful to my knee when I step up on my left foot. I am getting around, but will not be back to the states to see a doctor for at least 6-8 weeks. Do you have any idea why the back of my knee is so painful? Any suggestions would be very appreciated. Thank you.
