Patient :I experienced my first patellar dislocation when I was 14, and I am now 32. Since then, that same knee has dislocated about 4 times, the most recent being about a year and a half ago. I can't sit cross-legged for very long and crossing my legs at the knee when sitting on a chair or couch becomes painful after a few minutes. Is there reason to be concerned that this could progress and become more painful as the years go on? Is there anything I can do to strengthen the knee?
