Lactation and sensitivity and IUD

Patient

Q: I have been experiencing lactation from the nipples for the past two or three months, I have recently started noticing that my nipples are sore and sensitive to the point that showering is painful. I have had an IUD for over a year and have not had a period in over 4 months (it was very irregular before). could i be pregnant? and if so why would i have started lactating so early? also how unsafe is it to be pregnant while having an IUD?
