Lactation as Birth Control?

Patient

Q: My new wife and I are trying to find the right birth control for us. Both of us have no experience with sex, or birth control and are looking for the best way for us. We are wary of pills or shots even though most have been proven to be safe with little to no side-affects. We have been reading that women who are nursing can not, or at least are unlikely to get pregnant. With this in mind, we were considering induced lactation as a means of birth control. Would this work?
