Large finger bump

Patient

Q: My husband has had a lump on the second going of his index finger for several years. He said that when he first noticed it looked like a cal us It now is very large and is growing. It appears that there may be 3 round bumps that are making up the larger bump. I am worried that it may be a tumor. If it is a tumor and he has it removed, I concerned that there may not be enough tissue left to close the wound. What can the bump be and if it does have to be surgically removed what will happen if there isn't enough tissued to close up the wound properly?
