Patient : I have recently been having my period for the past 3 weeks. At first it was heavy, then changed to light bring brown with a little fresh blood. In the past day or two it has changed to a mucousy red color. I am 29 and married and we would like to get pregnant soon. My family has a history of hypothyroidism and everytime I bring it up to my doctor to check me, she hasn't. Finally when I went earlier this week for being sick (bronchitis) she said that she will test me at my checkup in 2 weeks. She stated that if I continue to have my period, I need to check with a OBGYN...I do not currently have one as she takes care of my yearly checkups. What should I do and what are some possibilities of treatment that will still allow my husband and I to have children?
