Losing Blood - Anaemic

Q: My dad has been diagnosed as being anaemic (losing blood somewhere), he is 78 years old. The doctors want to due more tests to back up what they think it is, not sure if that means being anaemic or something else. He has to go for 3 tests, all to be done at separate times. I am very concerned my worry is cancer and that's what he thinks they are checking for (he has to have a tube put doen his throat so they can have a look). Can you tell me how commen cancer would be and what other cause it could be?
