Lump at scar site after back surgery

Patient

Q: I had back surgery on 12/3/2013 to repair a herniated disk in my back at L4. the neurosurgeon fused L3 to L4, did a laminectomy and put a small stabilizing device in. I recovered beautifully and am so happy with the results but over the last few weeks I've noticed that just above the top of my scar there is a round lump that appears to be slowly getting larger. It's soft lump which I'm thinking that may be filled with fluid or maybe fatty scar tissue?. It only recently became uncomfortable and it's only uncomfortable if I lean again a chair or lie on my back. This lump is about 3" by 3" right now. Is this something that I should have checked out or is it just my body healing? I would hate to bother my family doctor if it's something trivial.
