The weight of 176 lbs is on a higher side forthe height of 5'9. At 16 years, if it persists longer then this may lead to plenty of metabolic disorders like diabetes, obesity etc. YOu need to check the weight gain by doing regular monitoring of the weight and sticking to a low-calorie food and using aerobic exercises regularly.
There are some medicines like topiramate and metoclopromide which check the weight gain but they are not a susbtitute for the above measures.
Hope this helps,
Wish you a good health.
