Patient : I am a 22 year old male with many issues I am trying to address and cure. I am trying to get to the root of the problem. I was wondering if what I describe to you of my childhood would be considered malnutrition. I grew up in the U.S. in a middle class home always with food in the house and I always thought malnutrition was really just occurred with kids who had no food. My mom never kept much food in the house and it was always tasteless organic disgusting food that I hated. I always had dinner but during the day a would go hours and hours without eating because I really didn't want anything in the house. I would watch tv for hours feeling hungry, but I would only get something to eat when I really felt like I was starving. I also rarely got balanced meals, I mainly lived off carbs with one balanced meal a day(dinner). My symptoms and issues that have led to believe I may have been malnourished is my severe lack of energy through most of my childhood, I was sick at least ten times a year, I was always the skinniest kid by far in school. I also think I may have stunted growth, though i dont know because my mom is short, but my brother is 6'3 and my dad is 6'1, but I am around 5'7. My whole life people have told me I look really young for my age. Right now at the age of 22 most people say I look 16. I dealt with severe anxiety and stress my whole life. Also, I have had my share of anger management problems, mood fluctuations, and depression. Many of these problems have decreased as I have gotten older and I have been able to gain some weight, though I am still very skinny and I have a very hard time gaining weight. The worst of my issues that has never gone away or even gotten better is insomnia. I have always had, since I can remember, horrible trouble getting to sleep and I have never in my life woke up feeling rested or relaxed, but I actually wake up feeling very tired and I dont start getting energy until the late afternoon. I would really like to know what is the cause of all these issues and any information is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
