Medication recommendation for back pain

Patient

Q: A friend of mine is feeling pain in his back. The Doctor recommended an MRI image. The conclusion of the image is as follows: THE MRI OF THE LUMBAR SPINE REVEALS POSTERIOR CENTRAL AND MAINLY RIGHT POSTERO-LATERAL EXTRUDED AND UP-WARD MIGRATING L5-S1 DISC HERNIATION IMPINGING THE RIGHT S1 AND TO A LESSER DEGREE L5 NERVE ROOTS.
My question is, what is the exact medical condition of my friend, and can u recommend a medication to reduce the back pain temporarily. Thanks in advance :)
