Meniscal tear of left knee

Patient : I have a complex meniscal tear with mild joint effusion in my left knee. It occured 6 months ago while playing age is 22 years. i didn't took care of it. 1.5 months later i had a MRI of left knee and it came "complex meniscal tear with mild joint effusion". Doctor gave me some medicines and wax bath for 20 days and suggested quadriceps excercise. He suggested me to get operate but i am not in the mood of operation. I really don't like to be operated. He said medicines won't help but exercise can. now i am not currently consulting any doctor but i want to know 1 thing. Can i do oil massage alongwith the exercise . Will oil massage can further ruin my condition or improve it???should i do it or not???
