Q: My boyfriend is suffering from a skin condition similar to what you called "Tinea versicolor". It appeared at random maybe six months ago and has progressively spread. It's not itchy, and it doesn't burn. It's slightly upraised, like a hive or welt, and they're soft and puffy, not flaky or scaley. It appears as a combination of individual spots, a little smaller than a pea, and blotches. They're most prominent on his stomach, the front of his shoulders, and they run lightly across his upper back. They're generally a light pink color, and become a deeper red after hot showers. They don't go away, they only become less inflamed and less noticeable, but the faint discoloration and spotting is always there.
