My eight year old son got the wind knocked out

Patient

Q: My eight year old son got the wind knocked out of him while sliding into base during his baseball game. He slid awkwardly on his knees but somehow crashed into the base. He immediately got up and starting g screaming he couldn't breath while holding his back... After he calmed down he complained of his back hurting but recovered quickly and finished the game without complaint. Hours later while playing in the yard with his brothers he starting saying he was short of breath and that his chest hurt. That was at 7 pm now at 10 pm he has a fever of 101. Could this be related or a separate issue?
