My father has very bad asthma and often has violent

Patient

Q: My father has very bad asthma and often has violent coughing fits where he blacks out for a few seconds. About 15 minutes ago he was laying down and looked like he was about to cough, but there was no air coming in or out and he turned purple and blacked out. He started to breather after about 10 seconds and said he had no idea what just happened. I told him I screamed for my mother to call an ambulance but he says he didn't hear anything. I'm extremely worried. He is very stubborn and refuses to go to the ER. Is it imperative that we get him evaluated right now or can it wait until the morning? It was one of the most frightening things I've ever experienced and I just want to ensure that he'll be okay. Thank you.
