If you both are sexually active then the possibility of pregnancy should be ruled out. There are no clear-cut signs of pregnancy and when there is an absence / delay in periods then a possibility of pregnancy should be considered. It can be easily tested by self-using a urine pregnancy test. Other common causes are stress related, polycystic ovarian disease, interference due to OCPs etc.
