Never ending sore muscles.

Patient : I pulled a muscle over five years ago in my back on the right side . . It is still sore. I have been diagnosed with several discs in the middle of my back that are slightly bulged and bone degeneration at the the top and bottom of my spine. I had a frozen shoulder a couple years ago also. The muscle from my waist to right under my shoulder blade and the muscle from the top of my shoulder to my neck hurts every time I lift my arm to work the register where I work. Is the muscle strain to due to the degeneration in my spine? And, will this ever get better? What can I do to make it better? I am not sleeping well at night because my right arm and hand gets numb also.
