Patient : I tripped on a curb and fell hard on my left knee. No abrasions but a lot of brusing and swelling. It seems that it is all soft tissue damage. Although the swelling made bending the knee uncomfortable, there was no pain in walking. The The only discomfort in bending the knee seemed to have been associated with the swelling. It has been 10 days and the pain is pretty much gone, the swelling is going down and the bruising is starting to fade. What concernes me is the numbness that starts just below the kneecap and extends from the midline of the knee, just below the kneecap and one quarter way around the leg to the outside and down the leg two to three inches. I weigh four hundred and twenty pounds so I am very grateful that nothing is broken. It could have been much worse! Can I expect the numbness to go away in time?
