Patient :I got a question if open tibia and fibula fracture can AFFECT diabetes and hypertension. (not the other way around). My theories that I've come up with is about blood loss compensation mechanism which stimulates the release of glucose from glucagon. Another theory is stress hormone. I'm unsure if pain will stimulate the release of cortisol which can also elevate blood glucose. Any thoughts?
