It is very unlikely that using Deriva C (adapalene - a 3rd generation topical retinoid) will lessen the effectiveness of oral contraceptive pills but you may use additional protection (condoms) to be sure. The drug is contraindicated in pregnancy due to the harmful effects on the fetus. The application may cause other side effects like skin irritation, redness and peeling of skin.
