Pain and Numbness in the Fingers

Patient

Q: Hi, I was playing rugby last week in freezing conditions and my hands went numb pretty soon into the game. By the end of the game I couldnt even move my finger the slightest bit and the pain had spread to my forearms. After the game i sat in the changing room clenching and unclenching my fists and rubbing my hands but to no avail. Soon after I went for a shower and got a burning sensation in my hands that wouldnt go away. The shower helped in some ways as my hands arent cold anymore but now i have a very bad pins and needles feeling in my fingers, hands and forearms up to my elbow. What should i do to get these sensations to go away? Should i refrain from playing rugby in those conditions again?
