Pain in finger for 13 weeks

Q: I am 16 and 12-13 weeks ago hurt my right index finger playing basketball. I know for sure I didn't just jam it. I ran full speed into someone and bent it backwards. The pain is mostly located around the third knuckle although it does radiate down into the hand and hurts between the second and third knuckle. The swelling has gone down and is barely noticeable now. I buddy tape it whenever I play basketball but besides that I do nothing. I never went to the doctor because I didn't want my season to end. At this point I have mild pain regularly, but more pain whenever it's hit or stretched basically when it's not in a neutral position. I have full range of movement. I'm wondering if it would even be worth it to go to a doctor at this point. I'm also wondering if it will eventually heal on it's own or if I've done some sort of permanent damage.
