Perfectly healthy but not seen a doctor since 2004

Patient: I’m a perfectly healthy 27 year old, but i have not see a doctor since maybe 2004. I have seen an urgent care doctor for a sinus infection, but have not have a “check -up” for a very long time. Do I need a check up? are there any tests or anything i should be doing?

Doctor: A single episode of sinus infection per se, doesn’t require any regular health check up. But, at your age, you should ma intain an active lifestyle with regular physical exercise and proper diet (with lots of roughage and plenty of water). You may however, get a basic annual health check up done, if you are genetically predisposed to certain disorders like Diabetes Mellitus, Hypothyroidism, Coronary Heart Disease, etc. Your family Physician would be able to advise you on that.
