Period lasting long time.

Patient : I'm a 17 year old female, and I have been getting my period for 4 years. Around August I began skipping every other month, but I was ensured this is normal. My periods would always last for 6 days, but this month it's been rather long. I started on the 11th of December and its now the 29th. I have not stopped once, my flow is medium. I haven't gotten any cramps during this time as well. I am not on any medication like birth control, and I'm not sexually active. I have been to other websites with my problem but they say all women get long or irregular periods, and that I Shouldn't be worried. I thought I try to get a more professional opinion. Is there a reason my period is lasting so long? Should I consult a doctor, or just wait it out? Thanks in advance.
