Persistent knee pain

Patient : I have had posterior, lateral knee pain and a feeling of instability for almost 3 years. This started after an incident where I was in a walking boot and crutches for an Achilles tendon stain and I slipped and fell on wet flooring. All radiological testing came back negative for any injuries but the pain has never completely subsided. The pain flares up with physical activity and prevents me from being able to sit cross-legged on the floor or squatting down. Could there be something the diagnostic tests missed?
Symptoms:  Right posterior lateral knee pain, feeling of instability, pain when squatting or crossing legs
