Pertussis vaccination: Should I vaccinate if I already had the disease?

Patient: Should I have been vaccinated against pertussis if I contracted the disease as a very young child before the vaccination schedule?

Doctor: Unfortunately infection with pertussis in the past does not make you immune to future infection and outbreaks. Thus I wou ld advice you to get your self vaccinated irrespectively. All the best.
