Picc tube

Patient : My mom recently had a picc line inserted to deliver antibiotics to treat a blood infection following 2 major strokes, after 2 days the line became blocked, over the next 5 days various doctors have repeatedly tried to unblock the tube with no success, it is now over a week since it blocked and she still has the defective line in her arm, should it not have been removed and replaced by now? is there any complications likely to occur as a result of leaving it in place? I have raised concerns as i have seen many examples of bad medical practice in this hospital, many thanks in advance for any help.
