Patient : Hello, I am a 20 year old female. I recently had my left ovary removed because my doctor said it was engulfed by a cyst. For a few years I had been having very irregular periods. The longest I went without having one was five months. That is when I was diagnosed with PCOS. Then a year later I was constantly having pain in my abdomen, a few months later I had surgery to remove my left ovary. That was back in September of 2010. Now I have a small cyst on my right ovary and it is causing pain, and I am afraid that I will lose this one and not be able to bear children. It hurts when I am sleeping, when I try to workout, or even if I am just siting down, I get these sharp pains that last anywhere from about 5-20 seconds. What can I do to try and shrink the cyst, or how can I keep them from popping up (without birth control).
