Polycystic Ovary Syndrome
Dear Ask The Doctor:
2009 I was admitted to hospital with suspected appendisitis. It was not however I was found to have Polycystic Ovary Syndrome with 30-40 small cysts on a slightly enlarged left ovary and as I had suffered a fall it was suspected that cysts had burst providing the symptoms I was suffering. In 2009 I suffered smoke inhalation due to a small house fire. Last summer I developed a problem with excess mucous in my throat sometimes thick green like when you get a cold, sometimes white and throthy, sometimes clear, it has been thick and yellow but only once. Last summer I spilt a large volume of bleach and upon clearing it up my throat and lungs felt badly burned. This cleared up in about a week. I did hit my head quite badly last summe if I remember correctly I do think it was before I started suffering with the dizzy speels. Summer last year I started to experience dizzy spells mainly when I layed down or sat up in bed, or when I laid my head back against a chair. and an intense tingling sensation in the back of my head, between my shoulders and down my back. The episodes lasted a couple of hours. One time when I was out I felt an overwhelming need to go lay down and go to sleep. But I went to the toilet a bowel movement toilet and felt a little better. Last year I started suffering ear pai pressure like ear pain and I also suffered from headaches that felt pressure like. I started eating fresh garlic and the symptoms went away. Last year I had a wellies that had holes in admittedly I kept forgetting to replace them and my feet kept getting wet when I took my dogs for a walk. Over time my feet started to feel bruised and I developed itchy bumps on my feet. After a few weeks and a couple of applications of TCP the bumps went away. Roughly a month later the bumps returned again with avengance and spread to my hands. Some of the bumps were the same as what was on my feet and some were a bit different. One scabbed but I am not sure if that was because of my scratching it, one was green on the side of the knuckles of one of my fingers. Some seemed to be under the skin of my fingers and have been quite large. They have lasted a couple of months though are getting better since I had started eating fresh garlic again and fresh rosemary and have been soaking my hands and feet with surgical spirit. But my hands and feet did swell and am not sure if it was my imagination but I think my entire body swelled. I also experienced a lot of pain. Joint pain in arms, ribs ached muscle fatigue in arms. Also a shooting pain up the sides of my neck. But now what is really scaring me is my hands look really bony it sounds weird but it seems to me like I've lost weight in my hands and they seem a little bonier than before I had the rash and bumps. Also this is what is absolutely terrifying me now I think that the glands on my jaw are slightly swollen and there is a swelling on the top right hand side of my neck. Before Christmas last year my heart started to feel like it was burning when I tried to run even under little exertion. This still comes goes and sometimes I think I am experiencing strong and mild irregular heartbeats. Sometimes it feels like my lubngs are struggling to fill with air. Also for the past 2-3 months I have suffered with a runny nose clear fluid that dries white on the skin if unwiped. Lastly in case this is significant I did have two blows to the head before christmas last year one was a self inflicted accident and the dizzy spells and fatigue returned. The fatigue went away quickly but the dizzy spells lasted a while. The second was my brothers pony swung her head back and hit me hard under my left eye causing what I believe was a haemotoma I have had one of these before. If relevant I did suffer lack of oxygen at birth which has caused some brain damage but I am told nothing significant I suffered epeleptic seizures as a baby that stopped after a period of takling Epilim I am 5ft 4ins and 11 stone if it is relevant. Have a strong familty history of cancer, diabetes and hypertension on my mothers side. Have been tested for diabetes twice tests come back negative. Have experienced severe memory problems but has improved upon my increasing my fresh garlic intake. Have had pins and needle sensations in bottom of feet and this morning in one of my little fingers which was hard to fet rid of. I know this is a very long question but I am not syure if this is all linked or whether its because I'm getting older or am I being a hyprichondriac.
