Possible back problems?

Patient : I believe have what is known as a sacral dimple. i understand it may be a sign of spina bifida- which i don't think i do as this hasn't been diagnosed and i'm now nearly 20. However i regularly suffer from sudden onset of pins and needles down one leg. This is painful and i have no other feeling in my leg at the time leading to it to give way. After the pins and needles my foot goes into an excruciating spasm that feels like my toes are being ripped apart. previously i have also suffered a shooting pain down the same leg directly from my lower back. Could the sacral dimple be a sign i have an underlying condition? should i see a doctor- i haven't mentioned any symptoms do a doctor as i don't want to waste their time. Also if i should see a doctor, what tests are likely to be ordered?
Symptoms:  Numbness and tingling in left leg
