Patient : Had hiking accident three weeks ago,a pretty good one,in a rocky area around Indian Ruins in remote Canyon.Hit head, cut back of head slightly, not a bad cut, pretty good bruises on thigh where I fell on the rocks and some cuts and scrapes. It's been three weeks this weekend.I didn't really realize that I hit my head that hard, until about four or so days after the accident.I had what appeared to be a knot or a lump which seemed to appear days later in my upper left forehead area, which was kind of strange, since I didn't cut or hit that part of my head that I know of.Then my left eye started turning a little red and eventually became purple around my eye lid and the outer corner and eventually underneath. The lump is going down in my forehead area and the purple eye is getting better. It took me a couple of days to really feel all of the body pain from the accident and most of that has gone away, but about four or maybe five days afterward I got a headache behind my left eye. This continued for days, coupled with nausea and kind of feeling light headed and unstable.I have had blurred vision up close, but I think it's finally getting better. About three days into the headache, it became one of the worst, if not the worst headache I've ever had in my life. This headache started behind my eye and over days turned into a huge headache, kind of pounding, with what was the worst jaw pain on the lower left that I've ever felt. It felt like someone ripped out all of my molars on that side or someone hit me up side the head with a sledge hammer. I was thinking maybe the headache was the flu or a virus. During this same period, my balance was way off.I was having difficulty just walking a straight line. I'd like to wait this out now since my headache seems almost gone, the swelling is going down and the eye is getting better and the jaw doesn't hurt. I don't want to waste everyone's time or look like an idiot because I had the flu and a little bruise from a fall. Don't want to overreact, but someone mentioned something about a blood clot that can occur when you have an injury and this made me a little nervous. Your thoughts on this matter would be appreciated. With regard to my fall, since it's been so long since the fall, three weeks, would I be out of the danger zone from potential side affects?
