Posture: back braces?

Patient

Q: I was wondering if posture braces generally work, or if the claim is true that they make posture worse over time because they weaken back muscles? Any recommendations for fixing posture through these types of products?

A:   Hello,
Thank you for posting your query on ATD.

I have gone through your query and understand your concern. I don't think these work to improve posture. However, lumbosacral braces are useful in pain relief in backache. You are correct by long term use these can cause weakness of muscles of the back.
Hope your query got answered.

Wishing you a good health.
Take care.
