Prenatal Vitamins

Q: I have hypothyroidism as well as iron deficiency anemia. I am 20 years old, 5ft 6in, 110 pounds, and my diet is fairly low in variety and nutrients. I also have asthma and chronic infections. My health history consists of one non-cancerous tumor (near lymph node) that was removed, a kidney infection, and pneumonia. I currently take levothyroxine 50mcg and I used to take prescription strength iron but after a few good blood tests in a row my doctor said I can switch to a multivitamin that is high in iron. I was told from a friend that prenatal vitamins are good for your hair and high in iron. Is it safe for me to take prenatal vitamins even though I am not pregnant?
