Q: Preventive measures taken when travelling

Symptoms:  cold,cough,sneezing
Doctor

A:   If you are allergic to dust, you should be wearing a face mask while travelling and avoid sitting on the window seat to prevent exposure to dust. Try to travel by air-conditioned coaches and opt for air-conditioned, neat hotel rooms. Always carry anti-histaminic medication while on a journey and avoid using blankets or mattresses shared between passengers (especially on a train journey). Apart from the above, application of moisturizer or Vaseline on the nostrils (initial 1/3rd) helps to trap the dust particles outside the nose and keeps the inner airways clean. Keep washing your hands at regular intervals and change your clothes immediately on reaching your home/destination.
