Provera to induce period menopause

Patient

Q: My dr prescribed provera to induce a period. I hadn't had one in over a year and he did some blood work and I was told i was in menopause. I am 44. I have had three pregnancies, one full term, one 6 weeks early and one miscarriage at 9 weeks. My dr did an ultrasound and he said the lining didn't look like someone that was in menopause. How long before I can expect the medication to work. I do not like the side effects I am having, from being very moody to tired. I have had spotting since the 23rd of August when I had the ultrasound and biopsy. Is it possible that I had a miscarriage and that it what brought on the bleeding in the first place? I just want this to begin so I can get back to my normal routine.
