Question about STI testing

Patient : I had a thorough STI screening after a one time encounter where I gave a man oral sex as a woman. This was a year ago and it was a week after the encounter that I got tested for everything. The clinic told me this was fine and I did follow ups on HIV, gonorrhea, and chlamydia several months later and all came back negative. I was told that I didn't need a follow up for syphilis because "he didn't have any visible open sores". Should I still get that follow up for syphilis?
Symptoms:  Never had any symptoms of syphilis.
