Patient : I have been having a sharp throbbing pain behind my left kneecap. It comes randomly and is not related at all to movement or athletic activity. Sometimes it happens when I am standing, sometimes when sitting, sometimes when lying down. The pain will come suddenly, grow worse for 5-10 seconds and then go away. It started about three weeks ago has been happening more frequently.
I am an active cyclist and soccer player, however neither of these activities seem to exacerbate the condition.
