Recovering from a High achilles tendon tear, no surgery.

Patient : Hi, I had a high achilles tendon tear 8 months ago. No surgery was performed only PT. I just began to run on the treadmill last week and it is going well. I was wondering if there were any protective measures I can do to protect myself for when I begin to play baseball, I am most concerned with the short running bursts. The initial injury was a high tear near the calf and did no require surgery, just an immobilization boot for a few months followed by physical therapy.
