Recurring Strep Throat

Q: I have been suffering from recurring strep throat and other infections since I can remember. I am 19 years old and I had my tonsils removed when I was 8 years old due to chronic tonsillitis. Last year I had 7 individual infections of strep throat and 6 the year before, all were cultured and positive. I have been tested when healthy to determine that I'm not a carrier. I'm currently suffering from a second round of infectious mononucleosis with symptoms worse than the first time. I've had pneumonia, bronchitis multiple times, but I never get the flu or a cold. Why am I getting strep throat and other infections so often?
