Red bumps after shaving

Patient: Hello Doc. i have this red bumps kinda like pimples on my pubic area.it happened after i shaved with a mens razor but after i stop shaving for some time they wont go.they dont seem like they spreding but i hve a few. i ive tried a acne treatment with salicyc acid 2.0%,hydrogen peroxide and triamcinolone acetonide cream 0.1%.

 

 

Doctor: It isn’t unusual to have red, inflammed blemishes after shaving. Hair follicles are attached to oil glands, and both are attached to nerve endings. Shaving tends to irritate the skin, the hair follicle, and the oil gland, causing a rash-like breakout of annoying bumps. Try using an over-the-counter cortisone cream to reduce the redness and irritation. However, if the bumps get infected you need to disinfect them with an over-the-counter antibiotic like Neosporin, Polysporin, or Bacitracin.
