Rheumatic Fever causes joint pain years later?

Patient : I am a 14 y/o female of average height and weight with no family history of arthritis or any type of bone/joint related diseases, but I have been experiencing sporadic joint pain, mainly in my knees, ankles, and hips. When I am in pain, no position or movement helps and the area feels swollen though there isn't any visible redness, inflammation or anything of that sort. When I was around 6 or 7 I had been treated rheumatic fever; and have since been told that it can cause joint discomfort after it is cured. Is this possible? Is there anything I can do/take to help it OTC?
