Right medication

Q: Hi Ask the Doctor. I've been taking Adderall for 2 years to treat my ADD. I started with Ritalin for like 2 weeks but felt it didn't control my symptoms long enough. Adderall works great but I would like to try Ritalin again to see if it's better for me since I was freshly diagnosed when prescribed Ritalin, 2 years ago. Is it ok to ask my psych to let me try Ritalin again? Is it safe to ask him to switch back to Adderall if Ritalin is not effective? I just want to test it out.

Thank you for your time!
