Patient :My 80 year old Father accidentally tripped and fell over a big potted plant. His right upper leg hurts like its a pulled muscle but he is in severe pain when we try to move him. He can wiggle his toes, move his knee and when pushing on his hip or touching his hip area there is no pain. its the top of his leg between his knee and hip. There is no swelling but a very slight bruising probably where he fell on the potted plant. He cannot lean in an upright position otherwise he says it hurts too much. Our question is, is it more likely a pulled muscle and what are the signs of a broken leg. He is not in pain when he is not moving. We've giving him Advil, iced his thigh and wrapped his leg.
