Patient :Good day
5 months ago I fell on my out-stretched left hand. Pain was immediately noticed at wrist (as I later learned the pain was by the scaphoid part). Since pain was not bad, i ignored it and waited for it to heal. 2 weeks later I visited a GP who recommended an X-ray. It was clear and I was told to just rest my hand. 2 weeks later the pain was exactly the same and I saw an Orthopedic surgeon who suspected a scaphoid fracture, though not confirmed. I wore a cast for 3 weeks and when removed the exact same pain was present. I was told the pain would eventually go. It did not. Eventually I was given a cortisone injection in a tendon near the scaphoid. It helped the pain but never totally go. I had an MRI a month later and it showed bone bruising/bone marrow oedema involving the distal pole of the scaphoid and anterior aspect of the trapezium (also no disruption of TFC present). Some joint effusion involving the triscaphe joint evident. I wore a wrist brace for months after and still hurts. I've spent alot of money on this without success. Any recommendations would be high appreciated. Thank you.
