Seizure After Piercing

Patient: My wife had a seizure after getting her belly button pierced by her unlicensed mother. She stopped breathing and her heart stopped beating for a few seconds. She was thrown on the ground for CPR and that started her up again. I want to know what caused this. This was her first seizure and before it happened she felt nauseous, light headed, and knew she was going to pass out but she didn’t feel too much pain. The same amount as when her eyebrow was pierced without complications. No anesthesia was used and the equipment was sterile. When she came to she was confused, sore, tired, and had a head ache. She took the piercing out the next day and slowly got better but for the first few days simple tasks took a lot out of her.
