Severe back pain, anything else that can be done??

Patient

Q: My sister has been experiencing severe back pain for two years now. Before then, nothing. She is only 28 years old. She has told me that she has spinal stenosis, bulging discs, and probably arthritis, but I am unsure. She has gone through the process of steroid injections, is currently on pain killers and muscle relaxers, and has recently gone through a discography. The discography resulted in my sister being told that one of her discs is completely useless and that her doctor told her that there was nothing he could do for her. He informed her that he is biased against surgery, but would refer her to a surgeon if she really wanted to talk with one.The doctor has given up on her. I cannot accept that there is simply NOTHING that can be done to help my sister. Please, is there anything that can be done to help my sister so she is not is so much pain?
