Patient : I am a 20 year old active male. I play football three times a week at different levels of competitiveness. About two months ago I turned and put all my weight on my left leg and felt a sharp pull. The day after I was unable to put pressure on my leg and I felt a extremely sharp pain whenever I pressed in with my hand just below m knee. I went accident and emergency and whatnot and they did an x ray and it showed nothing they told me to rest and not play sports for about 8 weeks. I haven't done anything seriously active since then just the occasional walk with the dog and everyday getting around. However months later I am still unable to play football anywhere near the level I used to as after half an hour of running the pain is back. Not only this but still it hurts when kneeling on it and pressing in on a certain point is excruciating. I wondered whether the strain could be linked with me not having a right knee functioning at one hundred per cent What with the acl tear I suffered three or four years ago? Any advice and information you could provide me with would be fantastic!
