Patient : I am a 37 year old female (good health) and had breast augmentation surgery 1 year ago with silicone implants, under the muscle (subpectoral). I am concerned about my left breast. Since surgery, it has never quite felt "right" and recovery in terms of experiencing pain in it was worse than on the right side. For the first few weeks, I had alot of sharp pain on the outside of this breast near my armpit. Eventually, this went away, but it never "dropped" like the other breast did (one nipple sits higher) and I still can't lay comfortably on my left side. For the past few months, I have been getting sharp pains in this breast-as if suddenly being stuck by a thin needle several times a day. For the past week, this "sharp needle" feeling is happening every few minutes. Another point to not is I have not had any sensation from my nipple and below since surgery. The pain comes from several different locations on my breast, but the majority of it is medial and toward the top not the nipple). It is also now (2 weeks) a little difficult for me to lift my left arm above my head. I'm getting worried and having difficultly sleeping-my doctor (plastic surgeon) can not see me for another week, but I'm afraid that at the rate my pain is getting worse (so quickly now), that may be too long. The more "needle pricks" I feel by the minute, the more worried I am getting. Am I blowing this out of proportion (pardon the pun)?
